Special Olympics BC Provincial Challenge Games

The Special Olympics BC Provincial Challenge Games was seven weeks of virtual competition, in which more than 1000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from around the province competed in weekly challenges and workouts to secure top spot in the Games.

Logo and Branding

I created the Games logo using elements from the Special Olympics branding, which features a distinct dynamic curve comprised of portions of circles. This ensured consistent brand identity, while providing a new look that communicated the new virtual format of the traditionally in-person Games.

Many SOBC athletes are visual learners, so it was important to have a strong brand identity for the Games that featured a high degree of contrast. The colours were chosen from the existing SOBC branding. Blue suggests a sign of reliability and yellow introduces an energetic happiness. This combination reinforces the consistent delivery of sport opportunities and the fun of competition.

Facebook Frames

Since the Games were virtual, I created region-specific Facebook frames to act as a digital uniform for athletes to represent their team with pride.

E-Signature, Report Branding, Mail-Out

Once I built out the branding, I worked with the communications, programs, and fundraising departments to fulfil their graphic needs, including both print and digital assets.
